Break out the Coppertone
[ SITE NEWS ] :: posted on May 12, 2008 by Miyabi
An annual rite of summer is currently going on in our lil' Rockman community. That's right, it's time for Maqqy's annual Bathing Suit Contest!
In addition to the usual humor and talent categories for artists, this year Maq has added a fanfiction category as well. So all the creative writers in our community can also show off their skills this summer, while having fun in the sun.
There have been a couple other changes to the contest, including the deadline, which is a month earlier than normal (July 30th). So, if you plan to enter, you best get started ASAP!
For more info regarding the rules of the contest, or to check out past entries, head over to MHHO. Hopefully we'll see some of our members represent with some nice Ryuusei works! (Don't be a crab, buku...JOIN IN! ) Good luck to all who enter.
New site making some noise
[ GAME NEWS ] :: posted on Apr 25, 2008 by Miyabi
Hey, I don't have a Ryuusei 2 site update for once! The brand-spanking new Ryuusei 3 page has opened!
There isn't much to do, other than grab a snazzy new wallpaper. It features the usual suspects, with Burai and a new guy who has blue hair and his own red visualizer. Personally, he sorta reminds me of a cross of EXE's Kirisaki and Barrel.
There is also a teaser that says: "The future of this planet is now up to them," along with "2008. Noise will conceal the world." We know that the theme of the boss contest is supposed to be 'space,' so one wonders what this noise will be all about. Astronomers are constantly searching the cosmos for noise in the hunt for extra-terrestrial life, so it's another fitting teaser. But what it all means has yet to be revealed.
We'll be sure to update with more news from this site as it's released.
And there is an update to the developer's Column, which essentially talks about a special battle card that is going to be given away...that, and something about wearing a futon properly. Which I don't think you humanly can. I love babelfish.
Also for those who didn't know, CoroCoro announced that the boss contest for the third RnR game is currently underway. So despite the plug being pulled on the anime, it appears the series is still going strong enough for another game.
EDIT: A little more info about the contest has also surfaced. Entries are due by May 14th, with results to be revealed in the November issue. Prizes include copies of RnR3. And of course, the winner gets their character featured in the game itself.
And thanks to forum member Malik, we also have that scan for anyone who is interested: RnR3 Contest Scan
News Credit: Star?Break, Repliroid20XX of RPM for more contest details, Malik for the scan, and every other site with the boss contest news before us.
The sixth Misora wallpaper is out, just in time for the start of Spring. It's called "Honey-Bee." I think you can guess what she's dressed as without any help. She also has a shamrock on her outfit, which I'd say is a little March/St. Patrick's Day extra, thrown in to cover that holiday as well:
The anime section gives Episode Summary info for the final two shows, Ep. 20 and 21. There's also another new guide book that's coming out, and it has Tribe King Rockman on the cover.
And finally, there have been a couple updates to the Developer's Column. The one from the 7th has a nice image of Luna and talks about "wave command cards," according to our friend Babelfish. The more recent entry mentions that our writer has pollen allergies due to blossoming cherry trees. That, and transportation problems getting to wave battle tourneys. LOL
While not Ryuusei related, the R20 Official Complete Works artbook will be released in the upcoming week. It looks like it'll be one great item for us Rockman fans. And for Roll, too! Capcom's Rockman 20th Anniversary site also updated with a new wall for the occasion. You never know what'll flip out of Eddie's top, now will ya?
Star Force 2 announced.

I thought I'd take a moment to step away from Smash Bros. and do something Mega Man-related. It seems Capcom hasn't forgotten our blue bomber as they plan to release the English adaptation of the second game this June. Funny localization names? You betcha!
We're still getting the game in two versions, but you'll be seeing a new splash to the transformation titles. Berserker has become Zerker, Shinobi has become Ninja, and Dinosaur has become Saurian. Make sense? Of course not, but that's the way of the CoA!
For any of you who keep up with Xebec pages, every summary page has a link to the next episode's page on the bottom, so even if there are only summaries for, say, 5 episodes, you could see episode 6's title on the bottom of episode 5's summary page. (And if episode 6's summary page didn't exist yet, the link would just be plain text; we could still get an episode title out of it.)
Plain and simple, there's no title for 22 on 21's summary page. Tribe is definitely, without a doubt, ending at 21 episodes. This is not a mistake.
Now, is there going to be a Rockman series after this? Hard to tell. The biggest thing that is throwing me off personally is the fact that Green Shinobi and Fire Dinosaur have been in the opening sequence since the first Tribe episode, yet we seem to be reaching the conclusion without ever using them. This, to me, implies the conclusion wasn't planned, which can only point to cancellation.
No matter how you slice it, things don't look too good for our blue bomber.
Oh, snap! Tribe IS ending soon?
[ ANIME NEWS ] :: posted on Feb 23, 2008 by Seiko
Xebec's website for Shooting Star Rockman Tribe has a very subtle, but frightening, bit of information concerning the amount of episodes Tribe has. The line preceding the episode list reads "各話紹介(全21話)", which roughly translates to "Each story introduction (all the 21 stories)," yet we only have episode titles up to episode 19.
This coincides with some previous fears I had considering the series is currently entering a climactic arc. So, is this is a result of the poor game sales I previously alluded to, and possibly low anime ratings? Or is Xebec just... wrong?
After all, although the story is reaching a climactic moment, there's still a lot of things that can't possibly be covered in the time allotted. Where are those other two oopart transformations that have been beckoning us in the opening sequence for over 4 months? And what about Solo?
But that would imply the 21 episode conclusion was planned, and if this is a result of the franchise's poor performance, well... a cancellation is never quite planned.
Time will tell, and this is all speculation on my part. But for now? Things look super grim.
Guess what this update's about!

Yeah, it still seems like the only news we have to report comes from the Ryuusei 2 page. Bunch of updates again today, so here we go!!
Yet another new Misora wallpaper. Again, they've mixed up the filename with their correct dimensions, but we've got them pointed to the right sizes. This one is called "Cutie Monotone." Kawaii, ne?:
To follow up last week's Subaru wall, we get the corresponding Solo version, which was also from the previously-released screensaver. At least these walls have the right dimensions to go with the filename:
There is also an update that gives some pricing and release info (Appears to be on March 25th) for a few guidebooks. Along with that, we get a few more episode summaries for Tribe, up to Episode 19. And finally, the Developer's Column has something new to say. But unfortunately, as usual, I can't translate a thing for you.
And that wraps up your week in official site updates. Until our next episode; same denpa time, same denpa channel.
But it wouldn't be fair if there wasn't a wallpaper for the ladies, so you can also grab a nice Subaru wall. Although it's a sketch we've seen in a previously-released screensaver before. This time in a nice blue theme.
Future of Ryusei grim?
[ GAME NEWS ] :: posted on Feb 10, 2008 by Seiko
The world of Ryusei has been very slow lately (well, Rockman in general has been rather blase). If you're anything like me, you've been a bit worried about the future of this franchise (especially considering Tribe's latest episode title from Xebec seems to be rearing towards a finale).
Well, this seems to support these fears. Although a bit vague, Nintendo World Report is reporting that Ryusei 2 "underperformed" in the 2007 fiscal year. What exactly the term "underperformed" equates to is unclear, but one thing's for sure: bad sales in Japan have been the killer of Mega Man franchises in the past. (PSP remakes, anyone?)
